UNLV Continuing Education has joined with Catalyst to offer SAT and ACT boot camps. The momentum-boosting weekend seminars will arm students with go-to strategies for every question they will face on the day of the test. Students will learn to spot hidden clues that instantly reveal the main idea in long reading passages. They will also find out how to avoid the four sneakiest ways SAT and ACT grammar questions try to trick students. In addition, students will be able to compose a perfect-score essay, no matter what question the SAT asks.
The Public Lands Institute is partnering with the National Park Service on a new initiative, the International Protected Area Exchange (IPAX). Recognizing the value in protecting our global natural areas, IPAX will utilize UNLV’s research and education expertise to address the need for additional educational resources to benefit protected areas around the world. The initiative began with a visioning session on Nov. 14 at UNLV.
The Non-Profit Management Certificate program through UNLV Continuing Education is revising its curriculum and moving its classes to a new location at Las Vegas’ Historic Fifth Street School starting in January.
The UNLV Office of Online Education will work with an international community of experts in educational technology to make online learning more relevant and engaging. The Office of Online Education, a unit of the Division of Educational Outreach, has recently been accepted for membership to the New Media Consortium (NMC). NMC is an international not-for-profit consortium of learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies.
The Office of Continuing Education will be closed Nov. 22-24 in observance of Thanksgiving. The information desk will reopen Monday Nov. 26 for normal business hours.

What is the future of online education at UNLV? Recently, Vice Provost for Educational Outreach Peg Rees was quoted in a local news report as saying, “We’re trying to build a brand around the world to be the leader in online education. We want to be the gold standard in online education.”
