Final exams are just around the corner, so naturally the minds of many college students are turning to…school?
Summer for college students used to mean racking up hours at a seasonal job or, for some, an internship related to their major. While these are both still coveted options, the sluggish economy and expanded academic opportunities mean that many youth will hit the books this summer either to stay on track for college graduation or to build job-related skills.

Basic language skills can make the difference between a good vacation or business trip and a great one. Knowing the local language allows travelers to venture off the tourist path and immerse themselves more fully in the local culture. Summer sessions of UNLV Continuing Education’s beginning conversation courses in Mandarin Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish begin in May or early June. Within weeks you will be ready to ask and answer essential questions encountered during personal or business travel.

Don’t Trash Nevada Social Media Team Raises Environmental Awareness Through Social Media Marketing Program
LAS VEGAS – Non-traditional students are becoming new traditional students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. These are students who had their education journey disrupted by family commitments, military service, finances, or other reasons. Not surprisingly, money is often a barrier for adult learners wishing to complete their degree. UNLV’s Community2Campus office within the Division of Educational Outreach administers several scholarships earmarked especially for students returning to college after an extended interruption.

35 hearty travelers from Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Michigan rendezvoused in Ushuaia, Argentina in early December to set out on a journey of a lifetime. Over ten days they explored the world’s southernmost waters and continent. For some, the trip checked the seventh and final continent off their travel wish-list. For others, it was an opportunity to see and photograph landscapes and wildlife they had only ever read about. For all, it was a chance to learn about this stunning but sometimes forbidding part of our planet.
