Joseph Miera

Joseph Miera is Vice Provost for Educational Outreach and believes in building collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies, particularly among students, staff, faculty, community members, public leaders, and government officials. Miera is nationally recognized in higher education as a leader in educational outreach/extended studies. 
 
He has over 31 years of progressive, financial, and administrative leadership at the University of New Mexico (UNM), serving most recently as Executive Director of its Extended Learning – Operations & Contracts Group. Prior to that, he was Interim Dean and Interim Executive Director of UNM’s Division of Continuing Education, Associate Dean of Operations, and Associate Dean of Business. Miera also is an active member of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) and Learning Resources Network (LERN), serving as a board member for both organizations.
 
Miera is nearing completion of his doctoral degree in educational leadership. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in public administration from UNM.
