OLLI at UNLV is the recipient of a $45,000 grant from Dignity Health to expand the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) class and OLLI at UNLV membership in the urban core of Las Vegas. The grant will be implemented in partnership with the City of Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department and the UNLV School of Nursing and will help support health-related classes including the CDSMP at community centers and senior communities in targeted areas.

Robert Levrant has been named the director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (OLLI at UNLV), an organization that provides a diverse range of learning and social opportunities for semi-retired and retired individuals.

The Bernard Osher Foundation has provided additional support to OLLI at UNLV. UNLV today announced the foundation recently made a $1 million grant, the second such endowment for OLLI at UNLV.Read more.

The July/August issue of Outreach Insights is now available. The enewsletter has news about the programs and people within the UNLV Division of Educational Outreach. This issue features a new math readiness course, an update on Summer Term 2015, and an introduction of the new director of Continuing Education.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNLV (OLLI at UNLV) has built its reputation on keeping members’ minds nimble through thought-provoking courses and discussions. The educational benefits of OLLI are so well known that people may be surprised to see several physical activity courses on the weekly schedule. Tai Chi, dance, and chair exercise courses have all developed a following among OLLI members.

More than 60 years ago, what we know today as UNLV’s Paradise Campus opened as a grade school for  children living in the developing city of Las Vegas. A generation later, the retired adults of UNLV’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) that currently call the campus home are helping Paradise-area students with a holiday supply drive. During the first two weeks of November OLLI members collected educational games, books, and school supplies for at-risk elementary students attending the Paradise Professional Development School.
