LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORDear Gifted Students and Parents, On behalf of our staff, instructors and the Honors College, welcome to the SAGE Academy website, celebrating our 6th anniversary as the local alternative to national selective gifted summer programs. SAGE continues to attract an impressive group of highly gifted and motivated students from both Clark County and across the USA- over 350 students since 2004! For 2010, we are offering 12 seminars in four topic areas: Science-Math-Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Performing Arts and Foreign Language & Culture. We invite you to take a look at our course descriptions and are sure that you’ll find several that interest you! Whichever seminar you choose, you earn three UNLV course credits and CCSD enrichment credit, meet fellow gifted students across the Vegas Valley (and, increasingly, the greater United States) and be well-prepared for Honors study at UNLV or another university after high school. We know that the economic crisis is still being felt in our community, and in response to that, we still have funds available for full and partial scholarships to help you attend SAGE. Still, do be aware that sending us your application by February 20, 2010 is the best way to ensure your chance at some of these funds. Finally, please join me in welcoming Michelle Nam as our new Undergraduate Assistant, taking over for Mary Catania. Michelle was a two-time SAGE participant and is now a first-year student in the Honors College. We are also very happy that Mary will remain with SAGE as Recruitment and Alumni Coordinator while also pursuing a doctorate in the UNLV English Department. Do not hesitate to contact any of us at sage.academy@unlv.edu if you have questions about SAGE, and we do hope you will be a part of this unique educational adventure next summer! Sincerely,
