LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORDear Gifted Students and Parents, On behalf of our staff, instructors and the Honors College, I would like to thank you for your interest. Founded in 2004, the Summer Advanced Gifted Education (SAGE) Academy is the local alternative to selective gifted summer programs elsewhere and over 250 of Nevada’s best and brightest students have taken part since then. We look forward to even more students and classes next summer. In 2008, you can choose from 20 seminars, which is the largest number of courses we’ve yet offered. These include classes on the 2008 presidential elections, mythology, art history, creative writing, nuclear science, mathematics, public speaking, unstable chemistry, Shakespeare and more. Also, SAGE is proud to remain one of the few gifted programs nationwide to offer foreign-language courses for beginning and advanced students. Next summer, we’ll offer French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Whichever seminar you choose, you can earn three UNLV course credits and CCSD enrichment credit, meet new friends and be well-prepared for Honors study at UNLV or another university later on. Information on 2008 summer classes, tuition and scholarships and application deadlines will be available here starting in early December. Please do not hesitate to contact me or our other SAGE staff at sage.academy@unlv.edu if you have any questions, and we welcome your application for Summer 2008! Sincerely, Dr. Daniel Villanueva
