Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP (with flame logo)® in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.

UNLV does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP (with flame logo)® certification marks. CFP certification is granted only by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to those persons who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met its ethics, experience, and examination requirements.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The financial planning field is experiencing tremendous growth. To meet the challenges faced by professionals, it is important to develop the skills and knowledge to help clients manage their risks and achieve their goals.

UNLV’s Executive Certificate in Financial Planning, a CFP® Board-registered program, is for professionals in brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking, and related industries. Whether you are new to financial services or a seasoned pro, this program will be equally beneficial.

An outstanding faculty presents the material in a clear, concise manner with a focus on the technical aspects, practical application, ethics and professionalism. Five modules address key topics and conclude with a capstone module of case studies applying the information from the previous modules. The modules are:

• Investment Planning
• Income Tax Planning
• Retirement and Employee Benefit Planning
• Estate Planning

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT CHANGE
In addition to completing this CFP ® Board-registered educational program, those seeking certification after January 2007 must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field of study from an accredited university, and agree to adhere to the ethics standards as set by the CFP® Board.
