Internet Design and Technology Certificate Program

View courses| View Courses Offered This Semester | View courses

Program Overview:
The Internet Design and Technology Certificate program will prepare you for numerous career opportunities in web design and development. We start out with the basics of web and graphic design technologies to form a strong foundation. You will then choose track options in either web design or multimedia design to focus your skills towards an emphasis that suits your career. In a final capstone class you will complete a comprehensive web based project utilizing the knowledge and skills you have learned.

Prerequisites:
You must have a working knowledge of the Windows operating system including navigating, creating, editing, and saving files and folders, working knowledge of modern web browsers, and have an understanding of basic web design terminology. For students who have no prior knowledge or experience in web design, we recommend you enrolling in Adobe Fireworks prior to taking additional courses in this program.

You must have also have attended the “Open House - Introduction to the Internet Design and Technology Certificate,” unless you do not plan to pursue the certificate.

Our computer labs are equipped with Windows PC computers. Students have the option of bringing and using their own personal PC or Mac notebook computers to class.

Although we provide the required software programs on our desktop computers in the lab during instructional times, you will also need access to these software at home or at work to complete some of the exercises, assignments, and projects. You may purchase educational versions of the software through an online website at http://www.journeyed.com. These are full versions of the software that have academic licensing agreements and may not be used for commercial purposes.

Program Requirements:
The program requires a minimum of 13.0 CEUs (130 in-class hours) in order to earn a Internet Design and Technology Certificate. The program is divided into a core course section totaling 46 hours and different track options, each totaling 84 hours. The two different tracks offered are Web Design and Multimedia Design.
