Fashion Design Certificate Program

View courses| View Courses Offered This Semester | View courses

Step into the exciting business of Fashion and Design, where you can enjoy a rewarding career as a fashion designer, illustrator, seamstress, merchandiser, model, photographer, or costumier.  Skilled and trained professionals are in demand internationally, nationally, as well as right here in Las Vegas. This comprehensive professional certificate program will introduce you to entry level and advanced principles while refining your design, presentation and portfolio skills.  You will learn about both the creative and technical sides of the fashion industry through hands-on activities, demonstrations, special events, and field trips. Fashion Design students also participate in fashion shows, award competitions and student mixers.

Fashion classes for the beginner and more advanced professional are available. You may take individual classes without completing the program.

To earn the Fashion Design Certificate of Completion, you must successfully complete 232 hours (23.2 CEUs), which include 160 hours in core classes and 72 hours selected from a list of electives.  In order to earn CEUS, you must receive satisfactory scores on course exams and projects at the conclusion of each class.  Students who receive their Certificate of Completion from UNLV are eligible to apply for the professional credential offered through UNLV and NAFD.

This Certificate program is offered in conjunction with Nevada Association of Fashion Design, (NAFD) a nonprofit organization, founded in January 1995. Fashion Designer Professional Certifications are offered upon program completion.  In addition, program participants are eligible for student membership in the Fashion Design Coop of Nevada (FDCN) through the NAFD.
